Master John Aaron Castro’s history in South Austin Karate goes back to February of 1994 when he was only 6 years old. He has grown up alongside the art, earning his first black belt on April 11, 1998; however, a first degree black belt was not enough for the ambitious young martial artist. He pursued greater achievements in the art of Bakido, becoming a 4th degree black belt at age 14 in April of 2001 and 5th degree black belt the following year. In May of 2005, John Aaron Castro stepped in front of the board once more and emerged triumphantly, bearing a 6th degree black belt and the title of Master.

As an instructor and camp counselor, he has acquired certification in CPR, First Aid, Asthma Education, Child Development and Water Safety. He is also a Level 1 Certified Archery Instructor as well as the weapons choreographer for many of SAK’s demo teams.

Master John Aaron Castro was inducted into the International Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2001 as Male Black Belt of the Year and again in 2002 as Outstanding Competitor of the Year. This hardworking and dedicated martial artist has been the team captain of a first place demonstration team for the Martial Arts World Championships as well as received numerous well-earned first and second place trophies for martial arts and demonstration teams.

Master John Aaron Castro has been one of the finest instructors to teach at South Austin Karate. His love of martial arts and eagerness to teach any willing student are well-known to us at South Austin Karate.
