American Sign Language
American Sign Language is our newest addition here at South Austin Karate. American Sign Language, commonly referred to as ASL, is a growing language. It is recognized by public schools as an official foreign language and is the fourth most commonly used language in the United States. Through the 2009-2010 school year, your child will be learning basic words and how to put them into sentences. They will also be learning to hold a basic conversation that will allow them to introduce themselves and tell a brief story about who they are and why they are learning sign language. This introduction of sign language will give your child the skills that they need to have a strong foundation in building their knowledge of the language. This is just another way that South Austin Karate continues in our endeavors to build life skills in our students.
